ThenPilatesaidto Him, "Do You not hearhow many thingsthey testify againstYou?"
The high prieststoodup and saidto Him, "Do You not answer?Whatis it that these menare testifying againstYou?"
And whileHe was being accusedby the chief priestsand elders,He did not answer.
And He did not answerhim with regardto evena [single] charge,sothe governorwas quiteamazed.
Pilateanswered,"I amnot a Jew,am I? Your own nationand the chief priestsdeliveredYou to me; whathave You done?"
the commanderorderedhim to be broughtinto the barracks,statingthat he should be examinedby scourgingsothat he might findout the reasonwhythey were shoutingagainst him that way.
