And they took offenseat Him. But Jesussaidto them, "A prophetis not without honorexceptin his hometownand in his [own] household."
Thussaysthe LORD,the Redeemerof Israel[and] its HolyOne,To the despisedOne, To the One abhorredby the nation,To the Servantof rulers,"Kingswill seeand arise,Princeswill also bowdown,Becauseof the LORDwhois faithful,the HolyOneof Israelwho has chosenYou."
He was despisedand forsakenof men,A manof sorrowsand acquaintedwith grief;And like one from whom men hidetheir faceHe was despised,and we did not esteemHim.
"Then He shall becomea sanctuary;But to boththe housesof Israel,a stoneto strikeand a rockto stumbleover, [And] a snareand a trapfor the inhabitantsof Jerusalem.
"And blessedis he whodoes not take offenseat Me."
And He did not domanymiraclestherebecauseof their unbelief.
Jesus wentout from thereand cameinto His hometown;and His disciplesfollowedHim.
And KingHerodheard[of it], for His namehad becomewell known;and [people] were saying,"Johnthe Baptisthas risenfrom the dead,and that is whythesemiraculous powersare at workin Him."
"Is not thisthe carpenter,the sonof Mary,and brotherof Jamesand Josesand Judasand Simon?Are not His sistersherewith us?" And they took offenseat Him.
Jesussaidto them, "A prophetis not without honorexceptin his hometownand amonghis [own] relativesand in his [own] household."
And He said,"TrulyI sayto you, noprophetis welcomein his hometown.
"Blessedis he whodoes not takeoffense at Me."
For JesusHimselftestifiedthat a prophethasnohonorin his owncountry.
They were saying,"Is not thisJesus,the sonof Joseph,whosefatherand motherwe know?Howdoes He nowsay,I have come downout of heaven'?"
But Jesus,consciousthat His disciplesgrumbledat this,saidto them, "Does thiscause you to stumble?
