But Pilatesaidto them, "Why,whatevilhas He done?"But they shoutedall the more,"CrucifyHim!"
Those who hateme withouta causeare morethanthe hairsof my head;Those who would destroyme are powerful,being wrongfullymy enemies;WhatI did not steal,I thenhave to restore.
He was despisedand forsakenof men,A manof sorrowsand acquaintedwith grief;And like one from whom men hidetheir faceHe was despised,and we did not esteemHim.
His gravewas assignedwith wickedmen,Yet He was with a richmanin His death,BecauseHe had donenoviolence,Norwas there any deceitin His mouth.
While he was sittingon the judgment seat,his wifesenthim [a message], saying,"Have nothingto do with that righteous Man;for last nightI sufferedgreatlyin a dreambecauseof Him."
saying,"I have sinnedby betrayinginnocentblood."But they said,"Whatis that to us? See[to that] yourself!"
Nowthe centurion,and thosewho were with him keeping guard overJesus,when they sawthe earthquakeand the things that were happening,became veryfrightenedand said,"Trulythiswas the Sonof God!"
They shoutedback,"CrucifyHim!"
Wishingto satisfythe crowd,PilatereleasedBarabbasfor them, and after having Jesusscourged,he handedHim over to be crucified.
but they kept on callingout, saying,"Crucify,crucifyHim!"
ThenPilatesaidto the chief priestsand the crowds,"I findnoguiltin thisman."
"And we indeed[are suffering] justly,for we are receivingwhatwe deservefor our deeds;but this manhas donenothingwrong."
Nowwhen the centurionsawwhat had happened,he [began] praisingGod,saying,"Certainlythismanwas innocent."
Pilatesaidto Him, "Whatis truth?"And when he had saidthis,he wentout againto the Jewsand saidto them, "I findnoguiltin Him.
Sowhenthe chief priestsand the officerssawHim, they criedout saying,"Crucify,crucify!"Pilatesaidto them, "TakeHim yourselvesand crucifyHim, for I findnoguiltin Him."
"And though they foundnogroundfor [putting Him to] death, they askedPilatethat He be executed.
But when they recognizedthat he was a Jew,a [single] outcryarosefrom them allas they shoutedfor abouttwohours,"Greatis Artemisof the Ephesians!"
For it was fittingfor us to have sucha high priest,holy,innocent,undefiled,separatedfrom sinnersand exaltedabove the heavens;
but with preciousblood,as of a lambunblemishedand spotless,[the blood] of Christ.
