And Jesus[began] to say,as He taughtin the temple,"How[is it that] the scribessaythat the Christis the sonof David?
At that timeJesussaidto the crowds,"Have you comeout with swordsand clubsto arrestMe as [you would] againsta robber?EverydayI used to sitin the templeteachingand you did not seizeMe.
As Jesuswenton from there,twoblind menfollowedHim, cryingout, "Have mercyon us, Sonof David!"
Gettingup, He wentfrom thereto the regionof Judeaand beyondthe Jordan;crowdsgatheredaroundHim again,and, accordingto His custom,He once more[began] to teachthem.
They cameagainto Jerusalem.And as He was walkingin the temple,the chief priestsand the scribesand the elderscameto Him,
"EverydayI was with you in the templeteaching,and you did not seizeMe; but [this has] [taken place] to fulfillthe Scriptures."
And He was teachingdailyin the temple;but the chief priestsand the scribesand the leading menamong the peoplewere tryingto destroyHim,
On oneof the dayswhile He was teachingthe peoplein the templeand preaching the gospel,the chief priestsand the scribeswith the eldersconfronted[Him],
Nowduring the dayHe was teachingin the temple,but at eveningHe would goout and spend the nighton the mountthat is calledOlivet.
Jesusansweredhim, "I have spokenopenlyto the world;I alwaystaughtin synagoguesand in the temple,whereallthe Jewscome together;and I spokenothingin secret.
"Has not the Scripturesaidthat the Christcomesfrom the descendantsof David,and from Bethlehem,the villagewhereDavidwas?"
