And they saidto Him, "The disciplesof Johnoftenfastand offerprayers,the [disciples] of the Phariseesalsodo the same,but Yourseatand drink."
He who turnsawayhis earfrom listeningto the law,Evenhis prayeris an abomination.
"So when you spreadout your hands[in prayer], I will hideMy eyesfrom you; Yes,eventhoughyou multiplyprayers,I will not listen.Your handsare coveredwith blood.
Whenyou eatand drink,do you not eatfor yourselves and do you not drinkfor yourselves?
"But woeto you, scribesand Pharisees,hypocrites,becauseyou shutoff the kingdomof heavenfrom people;for you do not enterin yourselves,nordo you allowthosewho are enteringto goin.
who devourwidows'houses,and for appearance's sakeofferlongprayers;thesewill receivegreatercondemnation."
It happenedthat whileJesus was prayingin a certainplace,afterHe had finished,oneof His disciplessaidto Him, "Lord,teachus to prayjustas Johnalsotaughthis disciples."
I fasttwicea week;I pay tithesof allthat I get.'
and then as a widowto the ageof eighty-four.She neverleftthe temple,servingnightand daywith fastingsand prayers.

And Jesussaidto them, "You cannotmakethe attendantsof the bridegroomfastwhilethe bridegroomis with them, can you?

And the Lord[said] to him, "Getup and goto the streetcalledStraight,and inquireat the houseof Judasfor a man from TarsusnamedSaul,for he is praying,
