"But givethat which is withinas charity,and thenall thingsare cleanfor you.
He has givenfreelyto the poor,His righteousnessenduresforever;His hornwill be exaltedin honor.
How blessedis he who considersthe helpless;The LORDwill deliverhim in a dayof trouble.
He who oppressesthe poortauntshis Maker,But he who is graciousto the needyhonorsHim.
By lovingkindnessand truthiniquityis atonedfor, And by the fearof the LORDone keepsawayfrom evil.
One who is graciousto a poormanlendsto the LORD,And He will repayhim for his gooddeed.
Therefore,O king,may my advicebe pleasingto you: breakawaynow from your sinsby [doing] righteousnessand from your iniquitiesby showingmercyto [the] poor,in casethere may be a prolongingof your prosperity.'

"Giveto him who asksof you, and do not turn awayfrom him who wantsto borrowfrom you.
becauseit does not gointo his heart,but into his stomach,and is eliminated?"([Thus He] declaredallfoodsclean.)
"Sellyour possessionsand giveto charity;makeyourselvesmoney beltswhich do not wearout, an unfailingtreasurein heaven,wherenothiefcomes nearnormothdestroys.
"And I sayto you, makefriendsfor yourselvesby meansof the wealthof unrighteousness,sothat whenit fails,they will receiveyou into the eternaldwellings.
When Jesusheard[this], He saidto him, "One thingyou stilllack;sellallthat you possessand distributeit to the poor,and you shall havetreasurein heaven;and come,followMe."
Zaccheusstoppedand saidto the Lord,"Behold,Lord,halfof my possessionsI will giveto the poor,and ifI have defraudedanyoneof anything,I will give backfour times as much."
Againa voice[came] to him a second time,"WhatGodhas cleansed,no[longer] considerunholy."
And in the proportionthat anyof the discipleshad means,eachof them determinedto send[a contribution] for the reliefof the brethrenlivingin Judea.

For ifthe readinessis present,it is acceptableaccordingto what [a person] has,not accordingto what he does not have.
He who stealsmust stealno longer;but ratherhe must labor,performingwith his ownhandswhat is good,sothat he will have[something] to sharewith onewho hasneed.
To the pure,all thingsare pure;but to thosewho are defiledand unbelieving,nothingis pure,but boththeir mindand their conscienceare defiled.
And do not neglectdoing goodand sharing,for with suchsacrificesGodis pleased.
For Godis not unjustso as to forgetyour workand the lovewhichyou have showntowardHis name,in having ministeredand in still ministeringto the saints.
Pureand undefiledreligionin the sightof [our] Godand Fatheris this:to visitorphansand widowsin their distress,[and] to keeponeselfunstainedby the world.
