EvenwhenI cryout and callfor help,He shutsout my prayer.
"Giveto him who asksof you, and do not turn awayfrom him who wantsto borrowfrom you.

"Nowsuppose oneof you fathersis askedby his sonfor a fish;he will not givehim a snakeinsteadof a fish,will he?
"SoI sayto you, ask,and it will be givento you; seek,and you will find;knock,and it will be openedto you.
NowHe was tellingthem a parableto show that at all timesthey oughtto prayand not to lose heart,
You askand do not receive,becauseyou askwith wrong motives,sothat you may spend[it] on your pleasures.
We countthoseblessedwho endured.You have heardof the enduranceof Joband have seenthe outcomeof the Lord'sdealings, that the Lordis full of compassionand [is] merciful.
