Now Naaman,captainof the armyof the kingof Aram,was a greatmanwith his master,and highly respected,becauseby him the LORDhad givenvictoryto Aram.The manwas also a valiantwarrior,[but he was] a leper.
And whatmoreshall I say?For timewill failme if I tellof Gideon,Barak,Samson,Jephthah,of Davidand Samueland the prophets,
The people,the leadersof Gilead,saidto oneanother,"Whois the manwhowill beginto fightagainst the sonsof Ammon?He shall becomeheadover allthe inhabitantsof Gilead."
Gilead'swifeborehim sons;and when his wife'ssonsgrewup, they droveJephthahout and saidto him, "You shall not havean inheritancein our father'shouse,for you are the sonof anotherwoman."
The angelof the LORDappearedto him and saidto him, "The LORDis with you, O valiantwarrior."
