So Joshuamadea covenantwith the peoplethat day,and madefor them a statuteand an ordinancein Shechem.
So they gaveto Jacoballthe foreigngodswhichthey hadand the ringswhichwere in their ears,and Jacobhidthem underthe oakwhichwas nearShechem.
Then Jehoiadamadea covenantbetweenthe LORDand the kingand the people,that they would be the LORD'Speople,also betweenthe kingand the people.
They enteredinto the covenantto seekthe LORDGodof their fatherswith alltheir heartand soul;
AllJudahrejoicedconcerningthe oath,for they had swornwith their wholeheartand had soughtHim earnestly,and He let them findHim. So the LORDgavethem reston everyside.
Then Jehoiadamadea covenantbetweenhimself and allthe peopleand the king,that they would be the LORD'Speople.
"Nowit is in my heartto makea covenantwith the LORDGodof Israel,that His burningangermay turnawayfrom us.
"Now because of allthisWe are makingan agreementin writing;And on the sealeddocument [are the names of] our leaders,our Levites[and] our priests."
Then he criedout to the LORD,and the LORDshowedhim a tree;and he threw[it] into the waters,and the watersbecamesweet.ThereHe madefor them a statuteand regulation,and thereHe testedthem.
Then Mosescameand recountedto the peopleallthe wordsof the LORDand allthe ordinances;and allthe peopleansweredwith onevoiceand said,"Allthe wordswhichthe LORDhas spokenwe will do!"
Theseare the wordsof the covenantwhichthe LORDcommandedMosesto makewith the sonsof Israelin the landof Moab,besidesthe covenantwhichHe had madewith them at Horeb.
Then Joshuagatheredallthe tribesof Israelto Shechem,and calledfor the eldersof Israeland for their headsand their judgesand their officers;and they presentedthemselves beforeGod.
And Joshuawrotethesewordsin the bookof the lawof God;and he tooka largestoneand setit up thereunderthe oakthat was by the sanctuaryof the LORD.
