The sonsof Reubenand the sonsof Gadcalledthe altar[Witness]; "For," [they said], "it is a witnessbetweenus that the LORDis God."
Joshuasaidto allthe people,"Behold,thisstoneshall be for a witnessagainst us, for it has heardallthe wordsof the LORDwhichHe spoketo us; thus it shall be for a witnessagainst you, sothat you do not denyyour God."
Then Samueltooka stoneand setit betweenMizpahand Shen,and namedit Ebenezer,saying,"Thusfarthe LORDhas helpedus."
