"I knowthat you are Abraham'sdescendants;yetyou seekto killMe, becauseMy wordhasnoplacein you.
But a naturalmandoes not acceptthe things of the Spiritof God,for they are foolishnessto him; and he cannotunderstandthem, becausethey are spirituallyappraised.
norare they allchildrenbecausethey are Abraham'sdescendants,but: "THROUGHISAACYOUR DESCENDANTSWILL BE NAMED."
Afterthese thingsJesuswas walkingin Galilee,for He was unwillingto walkin Judeabecausethe Jewswere seekingto killHim.
Thereforethey pickedup stonesto throwat Him, but JesushidHimself and wentout of the temple.
"Brethren,sonsof Abraham'sfamily,and thoseamongyou who fearGod,to us the messageof thissalvationhas been sent.
"Whydo you not understandwhat I am saying?[It is] becauseyou cannothearMy word.
Sofrom that dayon they planned togetherto killHim.
"Did not Mosesgiveyou the Law,and [yet] noneof you carriesout the Law?Whydo you seekto killMe?"
The Jewspickedup stonesagainto stoneHim.
They were sayingthis,testingHim, sothat they might havegrounds for accusingHim. But Jesusstoopeddownand with His fingerwroteon the ground.
Sosomeof the people of Jerusalemwere saying,"Is thisnot the man whomthey are seekingto kill?
"Howcanyou believe,when you receivegloryfrom one anotherand you do not seekthe glorythat is from the [one and] onlyGod?
FOR THE HEARTOF THISPEOPLEHAS BECOME DULL,WITH THEIR EARSTHEY SCARCELYHEAR,AND THEY HAVE CLOSEDTHEIR EYES,OTHERWISETHEY WOULD SEEWITH THEIR EYES,HEARWITH THEIR EARS,AND UNDERSTANDWITH THEIR HEARTAND RETURN,AND I WOULD HEALTHEM.'
They answeredHim, "We are Abraham'sdescendantsand have neveryetbeen enslavedto anyone;howis it that You say,'You will becomefree'?"
and do not supposethat you can sayto yourselves,We haveAbrahamfor our father;for I sayto you that from thesestonesGodis ableto raiseup childrento Abraham.
"Your fatherAbrahamrejoicedto seeMy day,and he saw[it] and was glad."
I have writtento you, fathers,becauseyou knowHim who has been from the beginning.I have writtento you, young men,becauseyou are strong,and the wordof Godabidesin you, and you have overcomethe evil one.
