The scribesand the Phariseesbroughta womancaughtin adultery,and having sether in the center[of the court],
"Thus I will judgeyou like women who commitadulteryor shedbloodare judged;and I will bringon you the bloodof wrathand jealousy.
"But they, righteousmen,will judgethem with the judgmentof adulteressesand with the judgmentof women who shedblood,becausethey are adulteressesand bloodis on their hands.
Those who foundhim gatheringwoodbroughthim to Mosesand Aaronand to allthe congregation;
Gathering togetherallthe chief priestsand scribesof the people,he inquiredof them wherethe Messiahwas to be born.
Early in the morningHe cameagaininto the temple,and allthe peoplewere comingto Him; and He sat downand [began] to teachthem.
they saidto Him, "Teacher,thiswomanhas been caughtin adultery,in the very act.
When they heardit, they [began] to goout oneby one,beginningwith the older ones,and He was leftalone,and the woman,where she was, in the center[of the court].
They broughtto the Phariseesthe man who was formerlyblind.
When they had placedthem in the center,they [began to] inquire,"By whatpower,orin whatname,have you donethis?"
So then,ifwhile her husbandis livingshe is joinedto anotherman,she shall be calledan adulteress;but ifher husbanddies,she is freefrom the law,so that she is not an adulteressthough she is joinedto anotherman.
