Thereforewhenthe Lordknewthat the Phariseeshad heardthat Jesuswas makingand baptizingmoredisciplesthanJohn
"And you, child,will be calledthe prophetof the Most High;For you will goon BEFORETHE LORDTO PREPAREHIS WAYS;
"Ifanyoneasksyou, 'Whyare you untyingit?' you shall say,'The Lordhasneedof it.'"
They said,"The Lordhasneedof it."
for todayin the cityof Davidthere has been bornfor you a Savior,whois Christthe Lord.
When the Lordsawher, He felt compassionfor her, and saidto her, "Do not weep."
Summoningtwoof his disciples,Johnsentthem to the Lord,saying,"Are You the ExpectedOne, ordo we lookfor someone else?"
Afterthese thingsJesusand His disciplescameinto the landof Judea,and thereHe was spending timewith them and baptizing.
And they cameto Johnand saidto him, "Rabbi,He whowas with you beyondthe Jordan,to whomyou have testified,behold,He is baptizingand allare comingto Him."
"The wordwhichHe sentto the sonsof Israel,preachingpeacethroughJesusChrist(He is Lordof all)--
For Christdid not sendme to baptize,but to preach the gospel,not in clevernessof speech,sothat the crossof Christwould not be made void.
The firstmanis from the earth,earthy;the secondmanis from heaven.
[the wisdom] whichnoneof the rulersof thisagehas understood;for ifthey had understoodit they would not have crucifiedthe Lordof glory;
For we do not preachourselvesbut ChristJesusas Lord,and ourselvesas your bond-servantsfor Jesus'sake.
My brethren,do not holdyour faithin our gloriousLordJesusChristwith [an attitude of] personal favoritism.
And on His robeand on His thighHe hasa namewritten,"KINGOF KINGS,AND LORDOF LORDS."
