And when He had saidthis,He breathedon them and saidto them, "Receivethe HolySpirit.
Then the LORDGodformedmanof dustfrom the ground,and breathedinto his nostrilsthe breathof life;and manbecamea livingbeing.
"The Spiritof Godhas mademe, And the breathof the Almightygivesme life.
By the wordof the LORDthe heavenswere made,And by the breathof His mouthalltheir host.
Then He saidto me, "Prophesyto the breath,prophesy,sonof man,and sayto the breath,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Comefrom the fourwinds,O breath,and breatheon theseslain,that they cometo life."'"
"I will askthe Father,and He will giveyou anotherHelper,that He may be with you forever;
"Whenthe Helpercomes,whomI will sendto you from the Father,[that is] the Spiritof truthwhoproceedsfrom the Father,He will testifyaboutMe,
"But I tellyou the truth,it is to your advantagethat I goaway;for ifI do not go away,the Helperwill not cometo you; but ifI go,I will sendHim to you.
SoJesussaidto them again,"Peace[be] with you; as the Fatherhas sentMe, I alsosendyou."
"Ifyou forgivethe sinsof any,[their sins] have been forgiventhem; ifyou retainthe [sins] of any,they have been retained."
But thisHe spokeof the Spirit,whomthosewho believedin Him were to receive;for the Spiritwas not yet[given], becauseJesuswas not yetglorified.
"Surely noonecanrefusethe waterfor theseto be baptizedwhohave receivedthe HolySpiritjustas we [did], can he?"
He saidto them, "Did you receivethe HolySpiritwhen you believed?"And they [said] to him, "No, we have not evenheardwhetherthere is a HolySpirit."
Peter[said] to them, "Repent,and eachof you be baptizedin the nameof JesusChristfor the forgivenessof your sins;and you will receivethe giftof the HolySpirit.
And they were allfilledwith the HolySpiritand beganto speakwith othertongues,as the Spiritwas givingthem utterance.
ThenPeter,filledwith the HolySpirit,saidto them, "Rulersand eldersof the people,
whocame downand prayedfor them that they might receivethe HolySpirit.
Thisis the only thingI wantto findout from you: did you receivethe Spiritby the worksof the Law,orby hearingwith faith?
