There was the true Lightwhich,cominginto the world,enlightenseveryman.
"I have come[as] Lightinto the world,sothat everyonewho believesin Me will not remainin darkness.
On the other hand,I am writinga newcommandmentto you, whichis true in Him and in you, becausethe darknessis passing awayand the true Lightis alreadyshining.
In Him was life,and the lifewas the Lightof men.
He says,"It is toosmalla thingthat You should be My ServantTo raiseup the tribesof Jacoband to restorethe preservedones of Israel;I will also makeYou a lightof the nationsSo that My salvationmay reachto the endof the earth."
He cameas a witness,to testifyaboutthe Light,sothat allmight believethroughhim.
And we knowthat the Sonof Godhas come,and has givenus understandingsothat we may knowHim whois true;and we are in Him who is true,in His SonJesusChrist.Thisis the true Godand eternallife.
Jesussaidto him, "I amthe way,and the truth,and the life;no onecomesto the Fatherbut throughMe.
Jesusthensaidto them, "Truly,truly,I sayto you, it is not Moseswho has givenyou the breadout of heaven,but it is My Fatherwho givesyou the true breadout of heaven.
Ifwe saythat we havenosin,we are deceivingourselvesand the truthis not in us.
To the lawand to the testimony!Ifthey do not speakaccording to thisword,it is becausethey havenodawn.
"I amthe true vine,and My Fatheris the vinedresser.
There was muchgrumblingamongthe crowdsconcerningHim; somewere saying,"He is a good man";otherswere saying,"No,on the contrary,He leadsthe peopleastray."
"But ifyour eyeis bad,your wholebodywill be full of darkness.Ifthenthe lightthat is in you is darkness,how greatis the darkness!
"Ifthereforeyour wholebodyis fullof light,with nodarkpartin it, it will be whollyillumined,as whenthe lampilluminesyou with its rays."
