"Then,indeed,you could liftup your facewithout[moral] defect,And you would be steadfastand not fear.
"Ifyou dowell,will not [your countenance] be liftedup? And ifyou do not dowell,sinis crouchingat the door;and its desireis for you, but you must masterit."
IfI am wicked,woeto me! And if I am righteous,I dare not liftup my head.[I am] satedwith disgraceand consciousof my misery.
"For thenyou will delightin the AlmightyAnd liftup your faceto God.
The LORDis my lightand my salvation;Whomshall I fear?The LORDis the defenseof my life;Whomshall I dread?
Thougha hostencampagainstme, My heartwill not fear;Thoughwarariseagainstme, In [spite of] thisI shall be confident.
Godis our refugeand strength,A verypresenthelpin trouble.
Thereforewe will not fear,though the earthshould changeAnd though the mountainsslipinto the heartof the sea;
In the fearof the LORDthere is strongconfidence,And his childrenwill haverefuge.
The wickedfleewhen nooneis pursuing,But the righteousare boldas a lion.
For our proud confidenceis this:the testimonyof our conscience,that in holinessand godlysincerity,not in fleshlywisdombut in the graceof God,we have conductedourselves in the world,and especiallytowardyou.
ThereforeI wantthe menin everyplaceto pray,liftingup holyhands,withoutwrathand dissension.
Now,little children,abidein Him, sothat whenHe appears,we may haveconfidenceand not shrinkawayfrom Him in shameat His coming.
