Meanwhile, the Midianitessoldhim in Egyptto Potiphar,Pharaoh'sofficer,the captainof the bodyguard.
Jehoiachinthe kingof Judahwentout to the kingof Babylon,he and his motherand his servantsand his captainsand his officials.So the kingof Babylontookhim captive in the eighthyearof his reign.
Now on the seventhday of the fifthmonth,whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar,kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guard,a servantof the kingof Babylon,cameto Jerusalem.
But becauseour fathershad provokedthe Godof heavento wrath,He gavethem into the handof Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon,the Chaldean,[who] destroyedthistempleand deportedthe peopleto Babylon.
I saidto the king,"Let the kingliveforever.Whyshould my facenot be sadwhenthe city,the placeof my fathers'tombs,lies desolateand its gateshave been consumedby fire?"
O God,the nationshave invadedYour inheritance;They have defiledYour holytemple;They have laidJerusalemin ruins.
It camealso in the daysof Jehoiakimthe sonof Josiah,kingof Judah,untilthe endof the eleventhyearof Zedekiahthe sonof Josiah,kingof Judah,untilthe exileof Jerusalemin the fifthmonth.
"The Chaldeanswho are fightingagainstthiscitywill enterand setthiscityon fireand burnit, with the houseswhere[people] have offeredincenseto Baalon their roofsand pouredout drinkofferingsto othergodsto provokeMe to anger.
Now Nebuchadnezzarkingof BabylongaveordersaboutJeremiahthroughNebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguard,saying,
As for the restof the peoplewho were leftin the city,the deserterswhohad goneoverto him and the restof the peoplewho remained,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguardcarried[them] into exilein Babylon.
So allthe armyof the Chaldeanswho[were] with the captainof the guardbrokedownallthe wallsaroundJerusalem.

In the thirdyearof the reignof Jehoiakimkingof Judah,Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babyloncameto Jerusalemand besiegedit.
ThenDanielrepliedwith discretionand discernmentto Arioch,the captainof the king'sbodyguard,whohad goneforthto slaythe wisemenof Babylon;
"Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,'The fastof the fourth,the fastof the fifth,the fastof the seventhand the fastof the tenth[months] will becomejoy,gladness,and cheerfulfeastsfor the houseof Judah;so lovetruthand peace.'
