"Behold,I am againstyou, O arrogantone," Declaresthe LordGODof hosts,"For your dayhas come,The timewhen I will punishyou.
For the LORDof hostswill have a day[of reckoning] Againsteveryonewhois proudand loftyAnd againsteveryonewho is liftedup, That he may be abased.
"Behold,I am againstyou, O valleydweller,O rockyplain,"declaresthe LORD,"You men who say,Whowill comedownagainstus? Or whowill enterinto our habitations?'
"We have heardof the prideof Moab--he [is] veryproud--Of his haughtiness,his pride,his arroganceand his self-exaltation.
"As for the terrorof you, The arroganceof your hearthas deceivedyou, O you who livein the cleftsof the rock,Who occupythe heightof the hill.Thoughyou makeyour nestas highas an eagle's,I will bringyou downfrom there,"declaresthe LORD.
"SummonmanyagainstBabylon,Allthose who bendthe bow:Encampagainsther on everyside,Let there be noescape. Repayher according to her work;According to allthat she has done,[so] doto her; For she has becomearrogantagainstthe LORD,Againstthe HolyOneof Israel.
"The arrogantone will stumbleand fallWith nooneto raisehim up; And I will setfireto his citiesAnd it will devourallhis environs."
"Behold,I am againstyou, O destroyingmountain,Who destroysthe wholeearth,"declaresthe LORD,"And I will stretchout My handagainstyou, And rollyou downfrom the crags,And I will makeyou a burntout mountain.
"Speakand say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I am againstyou, Pharaohkingof Egypt,The greatmonsterthat liesin the midstof his rivers,That has said,'My Nileis mine, and I myselfhave made[it].'
and say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I am againstyou, O Gog,princeof Rosh,Meshechand Tubal.
"And you, sonof man,prophesyagainstGogand say,'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,I am againstyou, O Gog,princeof Rosh,Meshechand Tubal;
therefore,thussaysthe LordGOD,'Behold,I, evenI, am againstyou, and I will executejudgmentsamongyou in the sightof the nations.
"Behold,I am againstyou," declaresthe LORDof hosts."I will burnup her chariotsin smoke,a swordwill devouryour younglions;I will cutoffyour preyfrom the land,and nolongerwill the voiceof your messengersbe heard."
"Behold,I am againstyou," declaresthe LORDof hosts;"And I will liftup your skirtsoveryour face,And showto the nationsyour nakednessAnd to the kingdomsyour disgrace.
But He givesa greatergrace.Therefore[it] says,"GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE."
You younger men,likewise,be subjectto [your] elders;and allof you, clotheyourselves with humilitytoward one another,for GODIS OPPOSEDTO THE PROUD,BUT GIVESGRACETO THE HUMBLE.
"For thisreasonin onedayher plagueswill come,pestilenceand mourningand famine,and she will be burnedup with fire;for the LordGodwho judgesher is strong.
