Sihon,kingof the Amorites,And Og,kingof Bashan,And allthe kingdomsof Canaan;
FiredevouredHis youngmen,And His virginshad noweddingsongs.
"Alsothe menof Memphisand TahpanhesHave shavedthe crownof your head.
"Thereis praisefor Moabnolonger;In Heshbonthey have devisedcalamityagainsther: 'Comeand let us cuther offfrom [being] a nation!'You too,Madmen,will be silenced;The swordwill followafteryou.
"So I will sendfireupon MoabAnd it will consumethe citadelsof Kerioth;And Moabwill dieamid tumult,With warcriesand the soundof a trumpet.
"From them will comethe cornerstone,From them the tentpeg,From them the bowof battle,From them everyruler,[all] of them together.
Then Israelsentmessengersto Sihon,kingof the Amorites,saying,
For Heshbonwas the cityof Sihon,kingof the Amorites,whohad foughtagainst the formerkingof Moaband had takenallhis landout of his hand,as faras the Arnon.
"For a firewentforthfrom Heshbon,A flamefrom the townof Sihon;It devouredArof Moab,The dominantheightsof the Arnon.
"Woeto you, O Moab!You are ruined,O peopleof Chemosh!He has givenhis sonsas fugitives,And his daughtersinto captivity,To an Amoriteking,Sihon.
"I seehim, but not now;I beholdhim, but not near;A starshall comeforth from Jacob,A sceptershall risefrom Israel,And shall crushthroughthe foreheadof Moab,And teardownallthe sonsof Sheth.
Jesussaidto them, "Did you neverreadin the Scriptures,THE STONEWHICHTHE BUILDERSREJECTED,THISBECAMETHE CHIEFCORNER[stone]; THISCAMEABOUT FROM THE LORD,AND IT IS MARVELOUSIN OUR EYES'?
