and Shevawas scribe,and Zadokand Abiatharwere priests;
Zadokthe sonof Ahituband Ahimelechthe sonof Abiathar[were] priests,and Seraiah[was] secretary.
He builtthe innercourtwith threerowsof cutstoneand a rowof cedarbeams.
Onlythe highplaceswere not takenaway;the peoplestillsacrificedand burnedincenseon the highplaces.He builtthe uppergateof the houseof the LORD.
Then Eliakimthe sonof Hilkiah,whowas overthe household,and Shebnathe scribeand Joahthe sonof Asaph,the recorder,cameto Hezekiahwith their clothestornand toldhim the wordsof Rabshakeh.
Now in the eighteenthyearof KingJosiah,the kingsentShaphan,the sonof Azaliahthe sonof Meshullamthe scribe,to the houseof the LORDsaying,
When the officialsof Judahheardthesethings,they cameup from the king'shouseto the houseof the LORDand satin the entranceof the NewGateof the LORD'S[house].
But the handof Ahikamthe sonof Shaphanwas with Jeremiah,so that he was not giveninto the handsof the peopleto puthim to death.
[The letter was sent] by the handof Elasahthe sonof Shaphan,and Gemariahthe sonof Hilkiah,whomZedekiahkingof Judahsentto Babylonto Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon,saying,
and I broughtthem into the houseof the LORD,into the chamberof the sonsof Hananthe sonof Igdaliah,the manof God,whichwas nearthe chamberof the officials,whichwas abovethe chamberof Maaseiahthe sonof Shallum,the doorkeeper.
Now when Micaiahthe sonof Gemariah,the sonof Shaphan,had heardallthe wordsof the LORDfrom the book,
Even thoughElnathanand Delaiahand Gemariahpleadedwith the kingnot to burnthe scroll,he would not listento them.
"So you goand readfrom the scrollwhichyou have writtenat my dictationthe wordsof the LORDto the peoplein the LORD'Shouseon a fastday.And alsoyou shall readthem to all[the people of] Judahwho comefrom their cities.
Baruchthe sonof Neriahdidaccording to allthat Jeremiahthe prophetcommandedhim, readingfrom the bookthe wordsof the LORDin the LORD'Shouse.
but Baruchthe sonof Neriahis incitingyou against us to giveus over into the handof the Chaldeans,so they will putus to deathor exileus to Babylon."
He also tookfrom the cityoneofficialwhowas overseerof the menof war,and sevenof the king'sadviserswhowere foundin the city,and the scribeof the commanderof the armywho musteredthe peopleof the land,and sixtymenof the peopleof the landwho were foundin the midstof the city.
A chamberwith its doorwaywas by the sidepillarsat the gates;therethey rinsethe burntoffering.
