The LORDcalledyour name,"A greenolivetree,beautifulin fruitand form";With the noiseof a greattumultHe has kindledfireon it, And its branchesare worthless.
"He thrivesbeforethe sun,And his shootsspreadout overhis garden.
But as for me, I am like a greenolivetreein the houseof God;I trustin the lovingkindnessof Godforeverand ever.
It is burnedwith fire,it is cutdown;They perishat the rebukeof Your countenance.
Let Your handbe upon the manof Your righthand,Upon the sonof manwhom You madestrongfor Yourself.
For behold,Your enemiesmakean uproar,And those who hateYou have exaltedthemselves.
When its limbsare dry,they are brokenoff; Womencome[and] makea firewith them, For they are not a peopleof discernment,Thereforetheir Makerwill not havecompassionon them. And their Creatorwill not be graciousto them.
"Yet I plantedyou a choicevine,A completelyfaithfulseed.Howthen have you turnedyourself before Me Into the degenerateshoots of a foreignvine?
"But I will punishyou according to the resultsof your deeds,"declaresthe LORD,"And I will kindlea firein its forestThat it may devourallits environs."'"
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,My angerand My wrathwill be pouredout on thisplace,on manand on beastand on the treesof the fieldand on the fruitof the ground;and it will burnand not be quenched."
His shootswill sprout,And his beautywill be like the olivetreeAnd his fragrancelike [the cedars of] Lebanon.
"The axeis alreadylaidat the rootof the trees;thereforeeverytreethat does not beargoodfruitis cut downand throwninto the fire.
"Ifanyonedoes not abidein Me, he is thrownawayas a branchand driesup; and they gatherthem, and castthem into the fireand they are burned.
"You shall haveolivetreesthroughoutyour territorybut you will not anointyourself with the oil,for your oliveswill dropoff.
Theseare the twoolive treesand the twolampstandsthat standbeforethe Lordof the earth.
