But each oneis temptedwhen he is carried awayand enticedby his ownlust.
When the womansawthat the treewas goodfor food,and that it was a delightto the eyes,and that the treewas desirableto make [one] wise,she tookfrom its fruitand ate;and she gavealsoto her husbandwith her, and he ate.
Then the LORDsawthat the wickednessof manwas greaton the earth,and that everyintentof the thoughtsof his heartwas onlyevilcontinually.
The LORDsmelledthe soothingaroma;and the LORDsaidto Himself,"I will neveragaincursethe groundon accountof man,for the intentof man'sheartis evilfrom his youth;and I will neveragaindestroyeverylivingthing,as I have done.
Davidsentmessengersand tookher, and when she cameto him, he laywith her; and when she had purifiedherself from her uncleanness,she returnedto her house.
And my heartbecamesecretlyenticed,And my handthrewa kissfrom my mouth,
"Ifmy hearthas been enticedby a woman,Or I have lurkedat my neighbor'sdoorway,
Watchover your heartwith alldiligence,For from it [flow] the springsof life.
He feedson ashes;a deceivedhearthas turnedhim aside.And he cannotdeliverhimself,norsay,"Is there not a liein my righthand?"
[It is] your destruction,O Israel,That [you are] against Me, against your help.
"But the things that proceedout of the mouthcomefrom the heart,and thosedefilethe man.
"Theseare the things which defilethe man;but to eatwith unwashedhandsdoes not defilethe man."
ThenJesuswas ledup by the Spiritinto the wildernessto be temptedby the devil.
but I sayto you that everyonewho looksat a womanwith lustfor her has alreadycommitted adulterywith her in his heart.
for sin,takingan opportunitythroughthe commandment,deceivedme and throughit killedme.
Thereforedid that whichis goodbecome[a cause] [of] deathfor me? May it neverbe! Ratherit was sin,in orderthat it might be shownto be sinby effectingmy deaththroughthat which is good,sothat throughthe commandmentsinwould becomeutterlysinful.
that, in referenceto your formermanner of life,you lay asidethe oldself,which is being corruptedin accordancewith the lustsof deceit,
But encourageone anotherdayafterday,as longas it is [still] called"Today,"sothat noneof you will be hardenedby the deceitfulnessof sin.
Let no onesaywhen he is tempted,"I am being temptedby God";for Godcannot be temptedby evil,and He Himselfdoes not temptanyone.
Thenwhen lusthas conceived,it gives birthto sin;and when sinis accomplished,it brings forthdeath.
