Thereforeit was necessaryfor the copiesof the things in the heavensto be cleansedwith these,but the heavenly thingsthemselveswith bettersacrificesthanthese.
"Was it not necessaryfor the Christto sufferthese thingsand to enterinto His glory?"
and He saidto them, "Thusit is written,that the Christwould sufferand rise againfrom the deadthe thirdday,
"IfI goand preparea placefor you, I will comeagainand receiveyou to Myself,that whereI am,[there] you may be also.
"Nowtherefore,you and the Councilnotifythe commanderto bring him downto you, as thoughyou were goingto determinehis caseby a more thorough investigation;and we for our part are readyto slayhim beforehe comes near[the place]."
things whichare a [mere] shadowof what is to come;but the substancebelongs to Christ.
For the Law,since it has[only] a shadowof the good thingsto come[and] not the veryformof things,cannever,by the samesacrificeswhichthey offercontinuallyyear by year,make perfectthosewho draw near.
For it is impossiblefor the bloodof bullsand goatsto take awaysins.
whoservea copyand shadowof the heavenly things,justas Moseswas warned[by God] when he was aboutto erectthe tabernacle;for, "SEE,"He says,"THAT YOU MAKEall thingsACCORDINGTO THE PATTERNWHICH WAS SHOWNYOU ON THE MOUNTAIN."
how muchmorewill the bloodof Christ,whothroughthe eternalSpiritofferedHimselfwithout blemishto God,cleanseyour consciencefrom deadworksto servethe livingGod?
For Christdid not entera holy placemade with hands,a [mere] copyof the true one,but into heavenitself,nowto appearin the presenceof Godfor us;
And they sanga newsong,saying,"Worthyare You to takethe bookand to breakits seals;for You were slain,and purchasedfor Godwith Your blood[men] from everytribeand tongueand peopleand nation.
