Anyonewho has set asidethe Lawof Mosesdieswithoutmercyon [the testimony of] twoorthreewitnesses.
Then Davidsaidto Nathan,"I have sinnedagainst the LORD."And Nathansaidto David,"The LORDalsohas takenawayyour sin;you shall not die.
Whyhave you despisedthe wordof the LORDby doingevilin His sight?You have struckdownUriahthe Hittitewith the sword,have takenhis wifeto be your wife,and have killedhim with the swordof the sonsof Ammon.
When its limbsare dry,they are brokenoff; Womencome[and] makea firewith them, For they are not a peopleof discernment,Thereforetheir Makerwill not havecompassionon them. And their Creatorwill not be graciousto them.
"I will dashthem againsteachother,both the fathersand the sonstogether,"declaresthe LORD."I will not showpitynorbe sorrynorhavecompassionso as not to destroythem."'"
So allthe congregationbroughthim outsidethe campand stonedhim to deathwith stones,justas the LORDhad commandedMoses.
"But ifhe does not listen[to you], takeoneortwomorewith you, sothat BY THE MOUTHOF TWOORTHREEWITNESSESEVERYFACTMAY BE CONFIRMED.
"Evenin your lawit has been writtenthat the testimonyof twomenis true.
For He saysto Moses,"I WILL HAVEMERCYON WHOMI HAVE MERCY,AND I WILL HAVECOMPASSIONON WHOMI HAVE COMPASSION."
Thisis the third timeI am comingto you. EVERYFACTIS TO BE CONFIRMEDBY THE TESTIMONYOF TWOORTHREEWITNESSES.
"You shall not pityhim, but you shall purgethe bloodof the innocentfrom Israel,that it may gowellwith you.
"A singlewitnessshall not riseup against a manon account of anyiniquityor anysinwhichhe has committed;on the evidenceof twoorthreewitnessesa mattershall be confirmed.
Seeto it that you do not refuseHim who is speaking.For ifthosedid not escapewhen they refusedhim who warned[them] on earth,muchless[will] we [escape] who turn awayfrom Him who [warns] from heaven.
For ifthe wordspokenthroughangelsprovedunalterable,and everytransgressionand disobediencereceiveda justpenalty,
For judgment[will be] mercilessto one who has shownnomercy;mercytriumphs overjudgment.
