Now the serpentwas morecraftythananybeastof the fieldwhichthe LORDGodhad made.And he saidto the woman,"Indeed,has Godsaid,'You shall not eatfrom anytreeof the garden'?"
For ifeither of them falls,the onewill liftup his companion.But woeto the onewhofallswhen thereis not anotherto lifthim up.
In that daythe LORDwill punishLeviathanthe fleeingserpent,With His fierceand greatand mightysword,EvenLeviathanthe twistedserpent;And He will killthe dragonwho[lives] in the sea.
"Behold,I sendyou out as sheepin the midstof wolves;sobe shrewdas serpentsand innocentas doves.
And the temptercameand saidto Him, "IfYou are the Sonof God,commandthat thesestonesbecomebread."
and saidto Him, "IfYou are the Sonof God,throwYourselfdown;for it is written,HE WILL COMMANDHIS ANGELSCONCERNINGYOU'; and 'ON [their] HANDSTHEY WILL BEARYOU UP, SOTHAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKEYOUR FOOTAGAINSTA STONE.'"
and he saidto Him, "Allthese thingsI will giveYou, ifYou fall downand worshipme."
Nowonder,for evenSatandisguiseshimself as an angelof light.
But I am afraidthat, as the serpentdeceivedEveby his craftiness,your mindswill be led astrayfrom the simplicityand purity[of devotion] to Christ.
You husbandsin the same way,livewith [your wives] in an understanding way,as with someoneweaker,since she is a woman;and showher honoras a fellow heirof the graceof life,sothat your prayerswill not be hindered.
And the serpentpouredwaterlikea riverout of his mouthafterthe woman,sothat he might causeher to be swept away with the flood.
And the greatdragonwas throwndown, the serpentof oldwho is calledthe deviland Satan,who deceivesthe wholeworld;he was throwndown to the earth,and his angelswere throwndown with him.
And he laid holdof the dragon,the serpentof old,whois the deviland Satan,and boundhim for a thousandyears;
