When Leahsawthat she had stoppedbearing,she tookher maidZilpahand gaveher to Jacobas a wife.
and the sonsof Zilpah,Leah'smaid:Gadand Asher.Theseare the sonsof Jacobwhowere bornto him in Paddan-aram.
The sonsof Judah:Erand Onanand Shelahand Perezand Zerah(but Erand Onandiedin the landof Canaan).And the sonsof Perezwere Hezronand Hamul.
ThoughJudahprevailedover his brothers,and from him [came] the leader,yet the birthrightbelonged to Joseph),
"Besidethe borderof Reuben,from the eastsideto the westside,Judah,one[portion].
Of the sonsof Judah,their genealogicalregistrationby their families,by their fathers'households,according to the numberof names,from twentyyearsoldand upward,whoever[was able to] goout to war,
"Theseare the namesof the men:of the tribeof Judah,Calebthe sonof Jephunneh.
Abrahamwas the fatherof Isaac,Isaacthe fatherof Jacob,and Jacobthe fatherof Judahand his brothers.
And thisregarding Judah;so he said,"Hear,O LORD,the voiceof Judah,And bringhim to his people.With his handshe contendedfor them, And may You be a helpagainsthis adversaries."
