So Sarahconceivedand borea sonto Abrahamin his oldage,at the appointedtimeof whichGodhad spokento him.
But Godsaid,"No,but Sarahyour wifewill bearyou a son,and you shall callhis nameIsaac;and I will establishMy covenantwith him for an everlastingcovenantfor his descendantsafterhim.
"But My covenantI will establishwith Isaac,whomSarahwill bearto you at thisseasonnextyear."
He said,"I will surelyreturnto you at this timenextyear;and behold,Sarahyour wifewill have a son."And Sarahwas listeningat the tentdoor,whichwas behindhim.
"Is anythingtoodifficultfor the LORD?At the appointedtimeI will returnto you, at thistimenextyear,and Sarahwill have a son."
"And behold,evenyour relativeElizabethhas alsoconceiveda sonin her old age;and she who was calledbarrenis now in her sixthmonth.
"And He gavehim the covenantof circumcision;and so[Abraham] became the fatherof Isaac,and circumcisedhim on the eighthday;and Isaac[became the father of] Jacob,and Jacob[of] the twelvepatriarchs.
For thisis the wordof promise:"AT THISTIMEI WILL COME,AND SARAHSHALL HAVEA SON."
For it is writtenthat Abrahamhadtwosons,oneby the bondwomanand oneby the free woman.
By faithevenSarahherselfreceivedabilityto conceive,evenbeyondthe proper timeof life,sinceshe consideredHim faithfulwho had promised.
Then I tookyour fatherAbrahamfrom beyondthe River,and ledhim through allthe landof Canaan,and multipliedhis descendantsand gavehim Isaac.
