Therefore she saidto Abraham,"Driveout thismaidand her son,for the sonof thismaidshall not be an heirwith my sonIsaac."
"The slavedoes not remainin the houseforever;the sondoes remainforever.
They wentout from us, but they were not [really] of us; for ifthey had beenof us, they would have remainedwith us; but [they went out], sothat it would be shownthat they allare not of us.
to [obtain] an inheritance[which is] imperishableand undefiledand will not fade away,reservedin heavenfor you,
Thereforeyou are no longera slave,but a son;and ifa son,thenan heirthroughGod.
For ifthe inheritanceis basedon law,it is no longerbasedon a promise;but Godhas grantedit to Abrahamby meansof a promise.
"Thenthe kingsaidto the servants,'Bindhim handand foot,and throwhim into the outerdarkness;in that place therewill be weepingand gnashingof teeth.'
Now theseare [the records of] the generationsof Isaac,Abraham'sson:Abrahambecamethe fatherof Isaac;
but to the sonsof his concubines,Abrahamgavegiftswhile he was stillliving,and sentthem awayfrom his sonIsaaceastward,to the landof the east.
Abrahamstretchedout his handand tookthe knifeto slayhis son.
Abrahamsaid,"BecauseI thought,surelythereis nofearof Godin thisplace,and they will killme becauseof my wife.
"But My covenantI will establishwith Isaac,whomSarahwill bearto you at thisseasonnextyear."
But Godsaid,"No,but Sarahyour wifewill bearyou a son,and you shall callhis nameIsaac;and I will establishMy covenantwith him for an everlastingcovenantfor his descendantsafterhim.
Driveout the scoffer,and contentionwill goout, Even strifeand dishonorwill cease.
Gilead'swifeborehim sons;and when his wife'ssonsgrewup, they droveJephthahout and saidto him, "You shall not havean inheritancein our father'shouse,for you are the sonof anotherwoman."
