The angelof the LORDsaidto her further, "Behold,you are with child,And you will beara son;And you shall callhis nameIshmael,Becausethe LORDhas givenheedto your affliction.
Thereforethe wellwas calledBeer-lahai-roi;behold,it is betweenKadeshand Bered.
Abramwas eighty-sixyearsoldwhen HagarboreIshmaelto him.
And Abrahamsaidto God,"Ohthat Ishmaelmight livebeforeYou!"
"As for Ishmael,I have heardyou; behold,I will blesshim, and will makehim fruitfuland will multiplyhim exceedingly.He shall becomethe fatherof twelveprinces,and I will makehim a greatnation.
Now theseare [the records of] the generationsof Ishmael,Abraham'sson,whomHagarthe Egyptian,Sarah'smaid,boreto Abraham;
Then his sonsIsaacand Ishmaelburiedhim in the caveof Machpelah,in the fieldof Ephronthe sonof Zoharthe Hittite,facingMamre,
and Esauwentto Ishmael,and married,besidesthe wivesthat he had, Mahalaththe daughterof Ishmael,Abraham'sson,the sisterof Nebaioth.
"Comeand let us sellhim to the Ishmaelitesand not layour handson him, for he is our brother,our [own] flesh."And his brotherslistened[to him].
The sonsof Abraham[were] Isaacand Ishmael.
