The territoryof the Canaaniteextendedfrom Sidonas you gotoward Gerar,as faras Gaza;as you gotoward Sodomand Gomorrahand Admahand Zeboiim,as faras Lasha.
Now theseare [the records of] the generationsof Terah.Terahbecamethe fatherof Abram,Nahorand Haran;and Haranbecamethe fatherof Lot.
TerahtookAbramhis son,and Lotthe sonof Haran,his grandson,and Saraihis daughter-in-law,his sonAbram'swife;and they wentout togetherfrom Urof the Chaldeansin order to enterthe landof Canaan;and they wentas faras Haran,and settledthere.
Now Lot,who wentwith Abram,alsohadflocksand herdsand tents.
And the landcould not sustainthem while dwellingtogether,for their possessionswere so greatthat they were not ableto remaintogether.
When Abramheardthat his relativehad been takencaptive,he ledout his trainedmen,bornin his house,threehundredand eighteen,and wentin pursuitas faras Dan.
The kingof Sodomsaidto Abram,"Givethe peopleto me and takethe goodsfor yourself."
Then Jacobdepartedfrom Beershebaand wenttoward Haran.
Then Esautookhis wivesand his sonsand his daughtersand allhis household,and his livestockand allhis cattleand allhis goodswhichhe had acquiredin the landof Canaan,and wentto [another] landaway from his brotherJacob.
But ifa priestbuysa slaveas [his] propertywith his money,that onemay eatof it, and thosewhoare bornin his housemay eatof his food.
"Thenhe leftthe landof the Chaldeansand settledin Haran.From there,afterhis fatherdied,[God] had him moveto thiscountryin whichyou are nowliving.
