ThenthreeyearslaterI wentup to Jerusalemto become acquaintedwith Cephas, and stayedwith him fifteendays.
He broughthim to Jesus.Jesuslookedat him and said,"You are Simonthe sonof John;you shall be calledCephas"(whichis translatedPeter).
But whenCephascameto Antioch,I opposedhim to his face, becausehe stood condemned.
But whenI sawthat they were not straightforwardaboutthe truthof the gospel,I saidto Cephasin the presenceof all,"Ifyou, beinga Jew,livelike the Gentilesand not like the Jews, how[is it that] you compelthe Gentilesto live like Jews?
But on the contrary, seeingthat I had been entrustedwith the gospelto the uncircumcised, justas Peter[had been] to the circumcised
and recognizingthe gracethat had been givento me, Jamesand Cephasand John, who were reputedto be pillars, gaveto me and Barnabasthe right handof fellowship, sothat we [might] [go] to the Gentilesand they to the circumcised.
