"You are nolongerto givethe peoplestrawto makebrickas previously;let them goand gatherstrawfor themselves.
They saidto oneanother,"Come,let us makebricksand burn[them] thoroughly."And they usedbrickfor stone,and they usedtarfor mortar.
Again she saidto him, "We have plentyof bothstrawand feed,and roomto lodgein."
So the samedayPharaohcommandedthe taskmastersover the peopleand their foremen,saying,
"But the quotaof brickswhichthey were makingpreviously,you shall imposeon them; you are not to reduceanyof it. Becausethey are lazy,thereforethey cryout, 'Let us goand sacrificeto our God.'
"Yet thereis bothstrawand fodderfor our donkeys,and alsobreadand winefor me, your maidservant,and the youngmanwho is with your servants;thereis nolackof anything."
