"Ifa ransomis demandedof him, then he shall givefor the redemptionof his lifewhateveris demandedof him.
"Or[if] it is knownthat the oxwas previouslyin the habitof goring,yet its ownerhas not confinedit, he shall surelypayoxfor ox,and the dead[animal] shall becomehis.
