The wiseman'seyesare in his head,but the foolwalksin darkness.And yetI knowthat onefatebefallsthem both.

Ifa manfathersa hundred[children] and livesmanyyears,however manythey be, but his soulis not satisfiedwith goodthingsand he does not evenhavea [proper] burial,[then] I say,"Betterthe miscarriagethanhe,
"It neverseesthe sunand it neverknows[anything]; it is betteroff thanhe.
It is betterto goto a houseof mourningThanto goto a houseof feasting,Becausethat is the endof everyman,And the livingtakes[it] to heart.
It is the samefor all.There is onefatefor the righteousand for the wicked;for the good,for the cleanand for the unclean;for the man who offersa sacrificeand for the one whodoes not sacrifice.As the goodmanis, so is the sinner;as the sweareris, so is the one who is afraidto swear.
"Nolongerwill there be in it an infant[who lives but a few] days,Or an oldmanwhodoes not liveout his days;For the youthwill dieat the ageof one hundredAnd the one who does not reachthe ageof one hundredWill be [thought] accursed.
"They will not buildand anotherinhabit,They will not plantand anothereat;For as the lifetimeof a tree,[so will be] the daysof My people,And My chosenoneswill wearout the workof their hands.
"For he will be like a bushin the desertAnd will not seewhenprosperitycomes,But will livein stonywastesin the wilderness,A landof saltwithoutinhabitant.
And inasmuchas it is appointedfor mento dieonceand afterthis[comes] judgment,
