"Whenyou enterthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou, and you possessit and livein it, and you say,I will seta kingoverme like allthe nationswhoare aroundme,'
"Whenyou enterthe landof Canaan,whichI giveyou for a possession,and I puta markof leprosyon a housein the landof your possession,
and you shall takepossessionof the landand livein it, for I have giventhe landto you to possessit.
"For you are about to crossthe Jordanto goin to possessthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godis givingyou, and you shall possessit and livein it,
"Whenyou enterthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou, you shall not learnto imitatethe detestablethingsof thosenations.
"Then it shall be, whenyou enterthe landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou as an inheritance,and you possessit and livein it,
and He has broughtus to thisplaceand has givenus thisland,a landflowingwith milkand honey.
"Whenthe LORDyour Godbringsyou into the landwhereyou are enteringto possessit, and clearsawaymanynationsbeforeyou, the Hittitesand the Girgashitesand the Amoritesand the Canaanitesand the Perizzitesand the Hivitesand the Jebusites,sevennationsgreaterand strongerthanyou,
"Rememberthe wordwhichMosesthe servantof the LORDcommandedyou, saying,The LORDyour Godgivesyou restand will giveyou thisland.'
So the LORDgaveIsraelallthe landwhichHe had swornto giveto their fathers,and they possessedit and livedin it.
"But you have todayrejectedyour God,whodeliversyou from allyour calamitiesand your distresses;yet you have said,'No,but seta kingoverus!' Nowtherefore, presentyourselves beforethe LORDby your tribesand by your clans."
Then Samueltoldthe peoplethe ordinancesof the kingdom,and wrote[them] in the bookand placed[it] beforethe LORD.And Samuelsentallthe peopleaway,eachoneto his house.
Then allthe peoplesaidto Samuel,"Prayfor your servantsto the LORDyour God,so that we may not die,for we have addedto allour sins[this] evilby askingfor ourselves a king."
"You shall inviteJesseto the sacrifice,and I will showyou whatyou shall do;and you shall anointfor Me the one whomI designateto you."
He said,"Thiswill be the procedureof the kingwhowill reignoveryou: he will takeyour sonsand place[them] for himself in his chariotsand among his horsemenand they will runbeforehis chariots.
