Now Moseswas pasturingthe flockof Jethrohis father-in-law,the priestof Midian;and he ledthe flockto the westsideof the wildernessand cameto Horeb,the mountainof God.
Whetherit was two daysora monthora yearthat the cloudlingeredoverthe tabernacle,stayingaboveit, the sonsof Israelremainedcampedand did not setout; but when it was lifted,they did setout.
Acrossthe Jordanin the landof Moab,Mosesundertookto expoundthislaw,saying,
"This is according to allthat you askedof the LORDyour Godin Horebon the dayof the assembly,saying,'Let me not hearagainthe voiceof the LORDmy God,let me not seethisgreatfireanymore,orI will die.'
"The LORDour Godmadea covenantwith us at Horeb.
"Even at Horebyou provokedthe LORDto wrath,and the LORDwas so angrywith you that He would have destroyedyou.
