O Belteshazzar,chiefof the magicians,sinceI knowthat a spiritof the holygodsis in you and nomysterybafflesyou, tell[me] the visionsof my dreamwhichI have seen,along with its interpretation.
Then Pharaohsaidto his servants,"Can we finda manlike this,in whomis a divinespirit?"
Your heartwill meditateon terror:"Whereis he who counts?Whereis he who weighs?Whereis he who countsthe towers?"
"In righteousnessyou will be established;You will be farfrom oppression,for you will not fear;And from terror,for it will not comenearyou.
"On the highmountainof IsraelI will plantit, that it may bringforthboughsand bearfruitand becomea statelycedar.And birdsof everykindwill nestunderit; they will nestin the shadeof its branches.
Behold,you are wiserthanDaniel;There is nosecretthat is a matchfor you.
As for everymatterof wisdomand understandingabout whichthe kingconsultedthem, he foundthem tentimesbetterthanallthe magicians[and] conjurerswho[were] in allhis realm.
The kingansweredDanieland said,"Surelyyour Godis a Godof godsand a Lordof kingsand a revealerof mysteries,sinceyou have beenableto revealthismystery."
Thenthe kingpromotedDanieland gavehim manygreatgifts,and he madehim ruleroverthe wholeprovinceof Babylonand chiefprefectoverallthe wisemenof Babylon.
Thisis the dream[which] I, KingNebuchadnezzar,have seen.Now you, Belteshazzar,tell[me] its interpretation,inasmuchas noneof the wisemenof my kingdomis ableto makeknownto me the interpretation;but you are able,for a spiritof the holygodsis in you.'
"I sawa dreamand it mademe fearful;and [these] fantasies[as I lay] on my bedand the visionsin my mindkeptalarmingme.
"But finallyDanielcamein beforeme, whosenameis Belteshazzaraccording to the nameof my god,and in whomis a spiritof the holygods;and I relatedthe dreamto him, [saying],
"Thereis a manin your kingdomin whomis a spiritof the holygods;and in the daysof your father,illumination,insightand wisdomlike the wisdomof the godswere foundin him. And KingNebuchadnezzar,your father,your fatherthe king,appointedhim chiefof the magicians,conjurers,Chaldeans[and] diviners.
"Woeto us! Whoshall deliverus from the handof thesemightygods?Theseare the godswho smotethe Egyptianswith all[kinds of] plaguesin the wilderness.
