And Danielmaderequestof the king,and he appointedShadrach,Meshachand Abed-negooverthe administrationof the provinceof Babylon,while Daniel[was] at the king'scourt.
For behold,He who formsmountainsand createsthe windAnd declaresto manwhatare His thoughts,He who makesdawninto darknessAnd treadson the highplacesof the earth,The LORDGodof hostsis His name.
"Unlessthosedayshad been cutshort,nolifewould have been saved;but for the sakeof the electthosedayswill be cut short.
"Unlessthe Lordhad shortened[those] days,nolifewould have been saved;but for the sakeof the elect,whomHe chose,He shortenedthe days.
But when Petersaw[this], he repliedto the people,"Menof Israel,whyare you amazedat this,orwhydo you gazeat us, as ifby our ownpowerorpietywe had madehim walk?
And we knowthat Godcausesall thingsto work togetherfor goodto thosewho loveGod,to thosewho are calledaccordingto [His] purpose.
For all things[are] for your sakes,sothat the gracewhich is spreadingto moreand more people may causethe giving of thanksto aboundto the gloryof God.
