ThenDanielrepliedwith discretionand discernmentto Arioch,the captainof the king'sbodyguard,whohad goneforthto slaythe wisemenof Babylon;
Meanwhile, the Midianitessoldhim in Egyptto Potiphar,Pharaoh'sofficer,the captainof the bodyguard.
As for the restof the peoplewho were leftin the city,the deserterswhohad goneoverto him and the restof the peoplewho remained,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguardcarried[them] into exilein Babylon.
Now on the tenth[day] of the fifthmonth,whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar,kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the bodyguard,who was in the serviceof the kingof Babylon,cameto Jerusalem.
So allthe armyof the Chaldeanswho[were] with the captainof the guardbrokedownallthe wallsaroundJerusalem.
he saidto Arioch,the king'scommander,"For whatreasonis the decreefrom the king[so] urgent?"ThenAriochinformedDanielabout the matter.
Therefore,Danielwentin to Arioch,whomthe kinghad appointedto destroythe wisemenof Babylon;he wentand spoketo him as follows:"Do not destroythe wisemenof Babylon!Takeme into the king'spresence,and I will declarethe interpretationto the king."
