They joinedthemselves also to Baal-peor,And atesacrificesoffered to the dead.
I have swornand I will confirmit, That I will keepYour righteousordinances.
Departfrom me, evildoers,That I may observethe commandmentsof my God.
Do not inclinemy heartto any evilthing,To practicedeedsof wickednessWith menwho doiniquity;And do not let me eatof their delicacies.
Do not desirehis delicacies,For it is deceptivefood.
The kingappointedfor them a dailyrationfrom the king'schoicefoodand from the winewhichhe drank,and [appointed] that they should be educatedthreeyears,at the endof which they were to enterthe king'spersonalservice.
They drankthe wineand praisedthe godsof goldand silver,of bronze,iron,woodand stone.
Then when he arrivedand witnessedthe graceof God,he rejoicedand [began] to encouragethem allwith resoluteheartto remain[true] to the Lord;
but that we writeto them that they abstainfrom things contaminatedby idolsand from fornicationand from what is strangledand from blood.
But he whostandsfirmin his heart,beingundernoconstraint,but hasauthorityoverhis ownwill,and has decidedthisin his ownheart,to keephis ownvirgin[daughter], he will dowell.
Each one[must do] justas he has purposedin his heart,not grudginglyorundercompulsion,for Godlovesa cheerfulgiver.
Whoatethe fatof their sacrifices,[And] drankthe wineof their drinkoffering?Let them riseup and helpyou, Let them be your hidingplace!
