When they had threatened them further,they let them go(findingno basison which to punishthem) on accountof the people,becausethey were allglorifyingGodfor what had happened;
Sothe crowdmarveledas they sawthe mutespeaking,the crippledrestored,and the lamewalking,and the blindseeing;and they glorifiedthe Godof Israel.
When they soughtto seizeHim, they fearedthe people,becausethey consideredHim to be a prophet.
But they were saying,"Not duringthe festival,otherwisea riotmight occuramongthe people."
After the demonwas castout, the mute manspoke;and the crowdswere amazed,[and were] saying,"Nothinglike thishas everbeen seenin Israel."
But when the crowdssaw[this], they were awestruck,and glorifiedGod,who had givensuchauthorityto men.
As He saidthis,allHis opponentswere being humiliated;and the entirecrowdwas rejoicingoverallthe glorious thingsbeing doneby Him.
The scribesand the chief prieststriedto layhandson Him that veryhour,and they fearedthe people;for they understoodthat He spokethisparableagainstthem.
"But ifwe say,'From men,'allthe peoplewill stone us to death,for they are convincedthat Johnwas a prophet."
The chief priestsand the scribeswere seekinghowthey might put Him to death;for they were afraidof the people.
They were allstruckwith astonishmentand [began] glorifyingGod;and they were filledwith fear,saying,"We have seenremarkable thingstoday."
"But sothat it will not spreadanyfurtheramongthe people,let us warnthem to speakno longerto anymanin thisname."
for the manwas morethan fortyyearsold on whomthismiracleof healinghad been performed.
But noneof the restdaredto associatewith them; however,the peopleheld them in high esteem.
Thenthe captainwent alongwith the officersand [proceeded] to bringthem [back] withoutviolence(for they were afraidof the people,that they might be stoned).
They took his advice;and after callingthe apostlesin, they floggedthem and orderedthem not to speakin the nameof Jesus,and [then] releasedthem.
