Since neithersunnorstarsappearedfor manydays,and nosmallstormwas assailing[us], from thenon allhopeof our being savedwas gradually abandoned.
He sentdarknessand made[it] dark;And they did not rebelagainstHis words.
"You were tiredout by the lengthof your road,[Yet] you did not say,It is hopeless.'You foundrenewedstrength,Thereforeyou did not faint.
"Keepyour feetfrom being unshodAnd your throatfrom thirst;But you said,It is hopeless!No!For I have lovedstrangers,And afterthem I will walk.'
Then He saidto me, "Sonof man,thesebonesare the wholehouseof Israel;behold,they say,Our bonesare driedup and our hopehas perished.We are completely cutoff.'
The LORDhurleda greatwindon the seaand there was a greatstormon the seaso that the shipwas about to breakup.
"But immediatelyafterthe tribulationof thosedaysTHE SUNWILL BE DARKENED,AND THE MOONWILL NOT GIVEITS LIGHT,AND THE STARSWILL FALLfrom the sky,and the powersof the heavenswill be shaken.
and on the thirdday they threwthe ship'stackleoverboard with their own hands.
When they had gonea longtime without food,thenPaulstoodup in their midstand said,"Men,you oughtto have followed my adviceand not to have set sailfrom Creteand incurredthisdamageand loss.
ThreetimesI was beaten with rods,onceI was stoned,three timesI was shipwrecked,a night and a dayI have spentin the deep.
[remember] that you were at that timeseparatefrom Christ,excludedfrom the commonwealthof Israel,and strangersto the covenantsof promise,havingnohopeand without Godin the world.
But we do not wantyou to be uninformed,brethren,aboutthosewho are asleep,sothat you will not grieveas do the restwho havenohope.
