not to allthe people,but to witnesseswho were chosen beforehandby God,[that is], to us whoateand drankwith Him afterHe arosefrom the dead.
WhenHe had reclined[at the table] with them, He tookthe breadand blessed[it], and breaking[it], He [began] giving[it] to them.
"You are witnessesof these things.
[that is] the Spiritof truth,whomthe worldcannotreceive,becauseit does not seeHim orknowHim, [but] you knowHim becauseHe abideswith you and will be in you.
"Aftera little whilethe worldwill no longerseeMe, but you [will] seeMe; becauseI live,you will livealso.
Judas(not Iscariot)saidto Him, "Lord,whatthenhas happenedthat You are goingto discloseYourselfto us and not to the world?"
"You did not chooseMe but I choseyou, and appointedyou that you would goand bearfruit,and [that] your fruitwould remain,sothat whateveryou askof the Fatherin My nameHe may giveto you.
and you [will] testifyalso,becauseyou have beenwith Me from the beginning.
Jesuscameand tookthe breadand gave[it] to them, and the fishlikewise.
beginningwith the baptismof Johnuntilthe daythat He was takenup from us-- oneof these[must] becomea witnesswith us of His resurrection."
Gathering them together,He commandedthem not to leaveJerusalem,but to waitfor what the Fatherhad promised,"Which,"[He said], "you heardof from Me;
"We are witnessesof all the thingsHe didbothin the landof the Jewsand in Jerusalem.They alsoput Him to deathby hangingHim on a cross.
and for manydaysHe appearedto thosewho cameup with Him from Galileeto Jerusalem,the very ones whoare nowHis witnessesto the people.
