When the timefor Israelto diedrewnear,he calledhis sonJosephand saidto him, "Please,ifI have foundfavorin your sight,placenowyour handundermy thighand dealwith me in kindnessand faithfulness.Pleasedo not buryme in Egypt,
but when I liedownwith my fathers,you shall carryme out of Egyptand buryme in their burialplace."And he said,"I will doas you have said."
But the servantsof Davidhad struckdownmany of Benjaminand Abner'smen,[so that] threehundredand sixtymendied.
Then allthe tribesof Israelcameto Davidat Hebronand said,"Behold,we are your boneand your flesh.
They buriedhim in his own tombwhichhe had cutout for himself in the cityof David,and they laidhim in the restingplacewhichhe had filledwith spicesof various kindsblendedby the perfumers'art;and they madea verygreatfirefor him.
Then Jehoshaphatsleptwith his fathersand was buriedwith his fathersin the cityof David,and Jehoramhis sonbecamekingin his place.
Do you seea manskilledin his work?He will standbeforekings;He will not standbeforeobscuremen.
And Gideonthe sonof Joashdiedat a ripeoldageand was buriedin the tombof his fatherJoash,in Ophrahof the Abiezrites.
Saulsaidto him, "Whosesonare you, youngman?"And Davidanswered,"[I am] the sonof your servantJessethe Bethlehemite."
