The kingsaidalso to Zadokthe priest,"Are you [not] a seer?Returnto the cityin peaceand your twosonswith you, your sonAhimaazand Jonathanthe sonof Abiathar.
"But ifyou returnto the city,and sayto Absalom,'I will be your servant,O king;as I have beenyour father'sservantin timepast,so I will nowbe your servant,'then you can thwartthe counselof Ahithophelfor me.
"Beholdtheir twosonsare with them there,Ahimaaz,Zadok'sson and Jonathan,Abiathar'sson; and by them you shall sendme everythingthat you hear."
Now Jonathanand Ahimaazwere stayingat En-rogel,and a maidservantwould goand tellthem, and they would goand tellKingDavid,for they couldnot be seenenteringthe city.
Then Ahimaazthe sonof Zadoksaid,"Pleaselet me runand bringthe kingnewsthat the LORDhas freedhim from the handof his enemies."
When Davidarosein the morning,the wordof the LORDcameto the prophetGad,David'sseer,saying,
While he was stillspeaking,behold,Jonathanthe sonof Abiatharthe priestcame.Then Adonijahsaid,"Comein, for you are a valiantmanand bringgoodnews."
Ahimaaz,in Naphtali(he alsomarriedBasemaththe daughterof Solomon);
Allthese[were] the sonsof Hemanthe king'sseerto exalthim according to the wordsof God,for Godgavefourteensonsand threedaughtersto Heman.
and Ahitubbecamethe fatherof Zadok,and Zadokbecamethe fatherof Ahimaaz,
He saidto him, "Beholdnow,there is a manof Godin thiscity,and the manis heldin honor;allthat he sayssurelycomestrue. Nowlet us gothere,perhapshe can tellus about our journeyon whichwe have setout."
