When they camedownto him, Elishaprayedto the LORDand said,"Strikethispeoplewith blindness,I pray."So He struckthem with blindnessaccording to the wordof Elisha.
They struckthe menwhowere at the doorwayof the housewith blindness,bothsmalland great,so that they wearied[themselves trying] to findthe doorway.
Then Elishasaidto them, "Thisis not the way,noris thisthe city;followme and I will bringyou to the manwhomyou seek."And he broughtthem to Samaria.
"By daythey meetwith darkness,And gropeat noonas in the night.
"But I will havecompassionon the houseof Judahand deliverthem by the LORDtheir God,and will not deliverthem by bow,sword,battle,horsesor horsemen."
"In that day,"declaresthe LORD,"I will strikeeveryhorsewith bewildermentand his riderwith madness.But I will watchoverthe houseof Judah,while I strikeeveryhorseof the peopleswith blindness.
"HE HAS BLINDEDTHEIR EYESAND HE HARDENEDTHEIR HEART,SOTHAT THEY WOULD NOT SEEWITH THEIR EYESAND PERCEIVEWITH THEIR HEART,AND BE CONVERTEDAND I HEALTHEM."
And Jesussaid,"For judgmentI cameinto thisworld,sothat thosewho do not seemay see,and that thosewho seemay becomeblind."
"Now,behold,the handof the Lordis upon you, and you will be blindand not seethe sunfor a time."And immediatelya mistand a darknessfellupon him, and he went aboutseekingthose who would lead him by the hand.
Whatthen?WhatIsraelis seeking,it has not obtained,but those who were chosenobtainedit, and the restwere hardened;
