When Elishabecamesickwith the illnessof whichhe was to die,Joashthe kingof Israelcamedownto him and weptoverhim and said,"My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"
Now it cameabout afterthesethingsthat Josephwas told,"Behold,your fatheris sick."So he tookhis twosonsManassehand Ephraimwith him.
When Jacobfinishedcharginghis sons,he drewhis feetinto the bedand breathedhis last,and was gatheredto his people.
Then Josephfellon his father'sface,and weptoverhim and kissedhim.
Now the restof the actsof Joashand allthat he didand his mightwith whichhe foughtagainstAmaziahkingof Judah,are they not writtenin the Bookof the Chroniclesof the Kingsof Israel?
So Joashsleptwith his fathers,and Jeroboamsaton his throne;and Joashwas buriedin Samariawith the kingsof Israel.
Elishasaidto him, "Takea bowand arrows."So he tooka bowand arrows.
Elishasaw[it] and criedout, "My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"And he sawElijah nomore.Then he tookholdof his own clothesand torethem in twopieces.
In thosedaysHezekiahbecamemortallyill.And Isaiahthe prophetthe sonof Amozcameto him and saidto him, "Thussaysthe LORD,Setyour housein order,for you shall dieand not live.'"
Then the kingof Israelwhen he sawthem, saidto Elisha,"My father,shall I killthem? Shall I killthem?"
Help,LORD,for the godlymanceasesto be, For the faithfuldisappearfrom among the sonsof men.
By the blessingof the uprighta cityis exalted,But by the mouthof the wickedit is torndown.
The righteousmanperishes,and nomantakesit to heart;And devoutmenare takenaway,while nooneunderstands.For the righteousmanis takenawayfrom evil,
even [though] thesethreemen,Noah,Danieland Jobwere in its midst,by their [own] righteousnessthey could [only] deliverthemselves,"declaresthe LordGOD.
"I searchedfor a manamongthem who would buildup the walland standin the gapbeforeMe for the land,sothat I would not destroyit; but I foundnoone.
"Your fathers,whereare they? And the prophets,do they liveforever?
for Herodwas afraidof John,knowingthat he was a righteousand holyman,and he kept him safe.And when he heardhim, he was veryperplexed;but he used to enjoylisteningto him.
Sothe sisterssent[word] to Him, saying,"Lord,behold,he whomYou loveis sick."
"For David,after he had servedthe purposeof Godin his owngeneration,fell asleep,and was laidamonghis fathersand underwentdecay;
becausehe was longingfor you alland was distressedbecauseyou had heardthat he was sick.
