For I am afraidthat perhapswhen I comeI may findyou to be not whatI wishand may be foundby you to be not whatyou wish;that perhaps[there will be] strife,jealousy,angry tempers,disputes,slanders,gossip,arrogance,disturbances;
Allwho hateme whispertogetheragainstme; Againstme they devisemy hurt,[saying],
A perversemanspreadsstrife,And a slandererseparatesintimatefriends.
being filledwith allunrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil;fullof envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice;[they are] gossips,
slanderers,haters of God,insolent,arrogant,boastful,inventorsof evil,disobedientto parents,
but to thosewho are selfishly ambitiousand do not obeythe truth, but obeyunrighteousness, wrathand indignation.
For I have been informedconcerningyou, my brethren,by Chloe's[people], that there are quarrelsamongyou.
for Godis not [a God] of confusionbut of peace,as in allthe churchesof the saints.
You have become arrogantand have not mournedinstead, sothat the one who had donethisdeedwould be removedfrom your midst.
But I callGodas witnessto my soul, that to spareyou I did not comeagainto Corinth.
I askthat when I am presentI [need] not be boldwith the confidencewith whichI proposeto be courageousagainstsome, who regardus as ifwe walkedaccordingto the flesh.
and we are readyto punishalldisobedience, wheneveryour obedienceis complete.
I am afraid that when I comeagainmy Godmay humiliateme beforeyou, and I may mournover manyof thosewho have sinned in the pastand not repentedof the impurity, immoralityand sensualitywhichthey have practiced.
I have previously saidwhenpresentthe second time, and though nowabsentI say in advanceto thosewho have sinned in the pastand to allthe rest[as well], that ifI comeagainI will not spare[anyone],
But I determinedthisfor my own sake, that I would not cometo you in sorrowagain.
But ifyou biteand devouroneanother, take carethat you are not consumedby one another.
Let us not becomeboastful,challengingoneanother,envyingone another.
Do not speakagainstone another, brethren. He who speaks againsta brotherorjudgeshis brother, speaks againstthe lawand judgesthe law;but ifyou judgethe law,you are not a doerof the lawbut a judge[of it].
Therefore, putting asideallmaliceand alldeceitand hypocrisyand envyand allslander,
For speakingout arrogant[words] of vanitythey enticeby fleshlydesires,by sensuality, thosewho barelyescapefrom the ones who livein error,
Theseare grumblers, finding fault, followingaftertheir [own] lusts;they speakarrogantly, flatteringpeoplefor the sakeof [gaining an] advantage.
