Then Hilkiahthe highpriestsaidto Shaphanthe scribe,"I have foundthe bookof the lawin the houseof the LORD."And Hilkiahgavethe bookto Shaphanwho readit.
When they were bringingout the moneywhich had been broughtinto the houseof the LORD,Hilkiahthe priestfoundthe bookof the lawof the LORD[given] by Moses.
Then Shaphanbroughtthe bookto the kingand reportedfurtherwordto the king,saying,"Everythingthat was entrustedto your servantsthey are doing.
The kingwentup to the houseof the LORDand allthe menof Judah,the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,the priests,the Levitesand allthe people,from the greatestto the least;and he readin their hearingallthe wordsof the bookof the covenantwhich was foundin the houseof the LORD.
Now afterthesethings,in the reignof Artaxerxeskingof Persia,[there went up] Ezrasonof Seraiah,sonof Azariah,sonof Hilkiah,
And allthe peoplegatheredas onemanat the squarewhichwas in frontof the WaterGate,and they askedEzrathe scribeto bringthe bookof the lawof Moseswhichthe LORDhad givento Israel.
Gathering togetherallthe chief priestsand scribesof the people,he inquiredof them wherethe Messiahwas to be born.
"Now it shall comeabout when he sitson the throneof his kingdom,he shall writefor himself a copyof thislawon a scrollin the presenceof the Leviticalpriests.
