And Elisaidto Samuel,"Goliedown,and it shall be ifHe callsyou, that you shall say,'Speak,LORD,for Your servantis listening.'"So Samuelwentand laydownin his place.
I will hearwhatGodthe LORDwill say;For He will speakpeaceto His people,to His godlyones;But let them not turnbackto folly.
SurelyHis salvationis nearto those who fearHim, That glorymay dwellin our land.
Then they saidto Moses,"Speakto us yourselfand we will listen;but let not Godspeakto us, orwe will die."
Then I heardthe voiceof the Lord,saying,"Whomshall I send,and whowill gofor Us?" Then I said,"Heream I. Sendme!"
He said,"O manof highesteem,do not be afraid.Peacebe with you; takecourageand be courageous!"Now as soon as he spoketo me, I receivedstrengthand said,"May my lordspeak,for you have strengthenedme."
but getup and enterthe city,and it will be toldyou whatyou mustdo."
He said,"No;ratherI indeedcomenow[as] captainof the hostof the LORD."And Joshuafellon his faceto the earth,and boweddown,and saidto him, "Whathas my lordto sayto his servant?"
Then the LORDcameand stoodand calledas at othertimes,"Samuel!Samuel!"And Samuelsaid,"Speak,for Your servantis listening."
So the LORDcalledSamuelagainfor the thirdtime.And he aroseand wentto Eliand said,"HereI am, for you calledme." Then Elidiscernedthat the LORDwas callingthe boy.
